Welcome to the West End Donner Lake Firewise Community!

This section of the Donner Lake Woods website is dedicated for the use by the entire West End Donner Lake Firewise Community. Each sub page is also intended for use by the entire Firewise Community; all property owners not just Donner Lake Woods.

General Information:

The West End Donner Lake Firewise Community consists of 576 developed lots and 156 undeveloped lots and is governed by a committee of community volunteers. Committee members include: Rose Cortopassi, Richard Harper, and Dave Sinclair, from Donner Lake Woods HOA; Stuart Bryan from Wolf Estates POA; Stephanie Moore, from Creekside Woods HOA; Barb Wilkinson with Dickson Realty.

Certification from the National Fire Protection Association was received on February 4, 2020.

The National Fire Protection Association, a non-profit organization devoted to eliminating fire hazards, provides Firewise Certification upon the successful completion of their multi stage application process that includes a risk assessment and a plan of action for increasing a communitiy's chance of surviving a wildfire while making it safer for fireighters to defend homes and neighborhoods.

With support from the Nevada County Fire Safe Council, Firewise USA®, and Truckee Fire Prevention, a risk assessment of the west end area of Donner Lake was conducted and a three-year action plan developed. The action plan (see Action Plan) focuses on three key areas: education, defensible space/fuel reduction, and evacuation.

We ask for your participation and volunteer support for our fire prevention initiatives. Together we can keep our community safe.
