Wildlife In Our Neighborhood
There is a variety of wildlife in the Donner Lake Woods area including deer, raccoons, coyote, bears, bobcats, mountain lions, and yes... beavers. While these animals are incredibly beautiful, their behavior is unpredicitable, sometimes dangerous, and potentially distructive to property. Residents and guests should always use caution when outdoors, and avoid contact with any wild animal.
While encounters with wildlife are likely, it is possible to share space and coexist with our native wildlife. Many resources are available to help. Below are just a few:
- Living With Wildlife
- The Bear League
- Keep Me Wild - Bear
- Keep Me Wild - Beaver
- Beaver Institute
- Keep Me Wild - Bobcat
- Keep Me Wild - Coyote
Nuisance bears: The BEAR League hotline (530) 525-PAWS, which is staffed 365 days a year 24 hours a day, is available to help anyone who has a problem with a bear. They will respond whether the bear is there or has gone or they can coach people over the phone. The BEAR League is always ready to help put people at ease and help them prevent future problems.
